Marketing your website with directories
Marketing your business website online boils down to one thing: getting targeted visitors to your website in order to create the potential for a sale.
However, getting targeted visitors to your webpage takes effort and a solid strategy.
If you’re starting out with your marketing, then getting visitors to your website is a start. If the ‘numbers game’ theory applies to you, then driving visitors to your website will eventually result in a sale.
Additionally, your business website will gain exposure, which is also good for increasing brand awareness and create the potential to… (you get it…) make a sale.
Where to start with your online marketing
One of the best places to start with your marketing is with directory listings. A business directory is an online version of an offline business directory, like the Yellow Pages and the Thomson Directory.
Why add your website to a directory?
There are two benefits to adding your website to a business directory.
- you increase the potential to gain exposure, which man drive new visitors to your website.
- your website gains some link reputation from the link in the directory (providing it’s a quality directory and your link is not one of 25 plus links on a page.
The latter in particular can help increase your website’s ranking by virtue of increasing its page rank, which is what we ultimately want from a directory listing.
So, in a nutshell:
To market your website, start by submitting a link to reputable business directories.
